What you will learn

If you are an absolute beginner, or if you have learned a few chords already, this is the course for you. After learning how to tune your guitar, you will learn your first chords, scales, rhythms and songs this term. A good, fun, group learning experience.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Tune your guitar, operate pickup and tone controls
Play open chords and barre chords
Strum simple rhythms and play simple songs
Pick single notes, identify the notes on 3 of the 6 strings
Understand FX pedals, understand hand positions

You will have a strong interest in electric guitar playing and a desire to improve.

Homework will be given every week and students must be prepared to spend time doing the given assignments and preparing tunes for performance in class.
