What you will learn

Learn synthesis and sound shaping techniques to create your own sounds and effects and enhance story telling with sound. Analyse a film script to develop sound ideas prior to post-production. Analyse current film trailers and create sound design for an existing film trailer to use as part of your portfolio of work. Use automation and MIDI controllers to perform real-time manipulation of effects parameters for sound design. You will also study the work of other sound designers and create sound effects for a short animated film. Suitable for beginners but computer skills are essential.

Entry requirements

Suitable for beginners. Access outside of class to a computer A strong interest in music. Some experience of using Apple computers would be an advantage, but support during class will be given. Basic computer skills, file management, etc.

What you need to know before you enrol

Although examples will be drawn from Logic we can also provide Logic, Ableton, Cubase, Adobe Audition and Reaper Due to the nature of the instruments/content of the course you might be exposed to high volume levels. We strongly encourage everyone to bring a pair of ear plugs to every lesson.
