Morley Award winners celebrated at spectacular ceremony

2024’s Morley Award winners were presented with their accolades last night at a ceremony celebrating the successes of students, staff and stakeholders.

Hosted by Chief Marketing and Engagement Officer Matthew Cunningham and Programme Area Manager for Fashion Christine Mhando, and with musical accompaniment from the Morley Big Band conducted by Flavio Li Vigni and featuring singer Emily Williams, the ceremony was preceded by a drinks reception where attendees had the opportunity to view a ‘capsule collection’ curated by Morley Gallery and featuring exhibits from the past year’s exhibitions and shows.

Stakeholder awards

After a montage video showing just some of the year’s highlights, the ceremony proper began, with Fellowships presented by Chair of Governors Leisha Fullick to Jonathan Slater and Annette Welch, and Awards chosen by Governors presented to Janet Vaux and Janine Irons OBE and Dr. Gary Crosby OBE.

Staff awards

Following comments by Principal and CEO Dr Andrew Gower and People Operations Committee member Annabelle Baiyewu, the awards for staff followed, with seven individuals and two teams taking home prizes made by Morley students.

Student awards

A total of 29 students from North Kensington, Chelsea and Waterloo were also celebrated, having received awards locally in their Centres in June:

Some took to the stage to receive their awards again, presented by Centre Principals Craig Hanlon-Smith, Maggie Hall and Bushra Iqbal.

Thanks and congratulations

Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to all those who supported this year’s Morley Awards, including sponsors South Bank BID, WeAreWaterloo and OCN London.
