Introducing 2024’s Artists of Morley

This summer, Morley’s visual arts students are showcasing their talents through a series of end-of-year activities that we’ve come to know as our Artists of Morley series.

The campaign is anchored by a variety of exhibitions across our centres in Waterloo, Stockwell, North Kensington, and Chelsea, providing multiple opportunities to appreciate the creativity and skill of our students.

From intricate ceramics to stylish millinery, delicate jewellery to bold textile designs, and beautiful photography to innovative sound art, there is something to captivate every artistic taste.

Highlights

Here’s a glimpse into some of the standout showcases you won’t want to miss:

• A Brush with Paint, Waterloo Centre, 7-24 June
  Discover the depth and diversity of contemporary painting in “A Brush with Paint,” featuring works from the Advanced Painting course.
  
• CATHARSIS, the Chelsea Centre End-of-Year Show, 21-26 June
  Witness the collaborative spirit of the Chelsea Centre for Creative Industries in “Catharsis,” an interdisclipinary exhibition co-curated by students and teaching staff.
  
• Taking Shape, the ceramics end-of-year show, Morley Gallery, 19-22 June
  Marvel at the innovative creations in our Ceramics End of Year Show, the culmination of two years’ exploration and learning on the Ceramics HND at the Waterloo Centre.
  
• Eye and Hand, the North Kensington Centre End-of Year Show, 20-28 June
  Welcome to “Eye & Hand,” an exhibition developed by the diverse student body of Morley College London’s North Kensington Centre for Skills.

Top tutors

Amongst the crème de la crème of the Artists of Morley are our very own teaching staff, who bring huge amounts of artistic experience and insight to the classroom, inspiring the creativity of our students.

Lynda Kinne is Head of Visual Arts at the Waterloo Centre, and has an extensive background in fashion. “Being an avant garde designer is about taking risks while staying true to who you are,” she says.

“Fashion designers of the future will need to understand how technology, innovation, and materiality intersect to meet the needs of customers while minimising fashion’s impact on the environment. The key to success in fashion is the ability to adapt and creative problem solve. This has formed the foundation of my teaching practice here at Morley.”
