Green Hub

Green hub at Morley College London

The recently established Green Hub at our Stockwell Centre is a dynamic initiative designed to enhance the green skills of our students and the broader community. This innovative space hosts a variety of workshops and courses focused on sustainability, environmental awareness, and practical green skills.

By providing hands-on learning experiences and expert-led sessions, the Green Hub aims to empower participants with the knowledge and tools needed to contribute to a more sustainable future. Whether it’s learning about renewable energy, sustainable gardening, or eco-friendly practices, the Green Hub serves as a vital resource for fostering environmental stewardship and green innovation in our community.

In designing the Green Hub, we focused on sustainable practices by carefully selecting suppliers who meet strict environmental standards. For instance, we sourced paint locally to reduce transportation emissions and support the local economy. The paint itself is eco-friendly, made from natural ingredients without petrochemicals, plastics, or harmful emissions. It’s also vegan, cruelty-free, non-toxic, low-odour, and has nearly zero VOC. Additionally, we installed solar lighting, which utilizes renewable energy from the sun, offering a sustainable and cost-effective alternative that reduces our carbon footprint. The Green Hub also features air-purifying indoor plants like the African Fig, Ficus Benjamina, and Lilac Peace Lily, which help remove pollutants from the environment.

Morley was selected as a finalist in the 2024 Green Gown Awards for the Green Hub and Carbon Literacy projects.
