Morley Acting Students Heat Things Up at The White Bear

This week the White Bear Theatre in Kennington will be transformed into a 1970s Midlands pie factory.

Students from Morley’s Acting School will be performing Baking Hot, a new play by acting student Johnnie Sinnott. As the mercury rises during the heatwave of 1976, tensions rise as workers grapple with the threat of unemployment, the aftermath of the three day week and union action, as a new owner makes his way to the factory.

The play’s writer has studied on the Acting: Introduction and Acting: Beginners courses at Morley’s Waterloo centre. The cast also features Morley acting students. Jenny Gordon is a current Acting Foundation student playing bubbly factory employee Rosie and Ed Sinnott, who is studying on our Acting: Advanced course, plays 18 year old University student Billy.

‘We’re very proud of our Acting School students,’ said Chloe Stephens, Programme Manager for Drama & Performing Arts. ‘At Morley we celebrate the collaborative nature of theatre, so it’s great to see that in action in this new play.’
