Music is part of our DNA: composers Gustav Holst and Michael Tippett were both Directors of Music, and many distinguished composers and musicians have taught and performed at Morley. Our tutors are industry professionals with wide-ranging expertise and are here to support your musical journey, whether you’re striving for excellence in traditional disciplines or ready to break the mould.

Our vibrant calendar of events ranges from orchestral performances to rock gigs and choral concerts to opera. From Stravinsky to saxophones and bebop to baroque, Morley is the home of music.

Performance and Theory

Classical

Learn to play instruments including piano, strings, wind and brass at Morley. You could join one of our orchestras and ensembles, or discover specialist courses in chamber music, conducting and music theory and composition.

Jazz

Discover the creativity and innovation of Jazz and Afro-Cuban music with instrumental courses, listeners’ guides and jazz history. Morley’s ensembles include our Jazz Orchestra and Big Band, all led by leading practitioners.

Folk

Explore the rich tradition of folk music with courses ranging from folk singing to instrument tuition, including fiddle, ukulele and accordion, from beginners to more advanced ensemble classes.

Vocal Studies

Whether you’ve convinced yourself you can’t sing or dream of performing to thousands, we have a wide range of singing classes, classical masterclasses and choirs in all styles to help you find your voice.

Opera

Our Opera School is known as one of the best part-time opera courses in London. Our students perform in multiple public shows every year and many go on to study at prestigious music colleges and perform in professional companies.
